About Us

Cycling Without Age was first launched in Copenhagen in 2012 and is now a mass network of over 3,500 independent chapters in 41 countries with 6,000 trishaws and 43,000 trained cycle pilots. Each Chapter may be small, but the global impact is huge!
The Cycling Without Age Qualicum Beach Society is a volunteer-driven group providing opportunities for intergenerational connection and active citizenship by providing free hosted bike rides to seniors and less-abled members of the community on an electric trishaw. Our story started when Qualicum Beach resident Marcel Kramer discovered Cycling Without Age and decided he wanted his parents to experience a trishaw ride. With the support of The Gardens at Qualicum Beach, Rodway and Perry, Scott Signs, Big Grin Bikes, and a small group of volunteers, the Cycling Without Age Qualicum Beach Society was launched and hosted the first trishaw training session in April 2025. The first volunteer Trishaw pilots started to host riders in July of 2025. Each Trishaw experience starts and completes at The Gardens and can host two passengers.
We are committed to creating memorable experiences and fostering a sense of community by enabling everyone to enjoy the simple pleasure of feeling the wind in their hair and the joy of exploring the outdoors. We believe in the power of human connections and the positive impact of staying active, and we are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those we serve. Join us as we aim to promote inclusivity, well-being, and the right for everyone to feel the wind in their hair.
